A Fair Price of love

Darkness veiled everywhere, he never looked back,

Went deep into the woods, his heart was pounding faster,

Faster and louder, he could hear the beats in his ear,

Something followed him, a shadow he didn’t have the courage,

To face and so he kept running and running,

Places unknown to known, there came never a halt,

Made a many acquaintances on his way, still the shadow followed,

He always felt its company around, he was disturbed,

Never did it hurt him, he saw it once in the mirror,

Reflection so blurred, he caught only a glimpse,

It was angelic, beautiful, and feminine,

Then why was he scared of it? Who was it, who was she?

Long time ago, he abandoned someone, broke the heart,

Went ahead with time, and never looked back,

A heartbroken she made her way through the heavens,

Now resides alongside with God, but it wasn’t she,

She could never hurt him, she only loved him,

Then why was he so restless, being so fortunate after,

Everything that happened, he was only receiving love,

Love ethereal and pure, still this love became poison,

He couldn’t sleep, places and places he kept on changing,

Haunted the memories of the past, every breath he took,

Was heavy and painful, he realized the more he ran,

More was he haunted, followed, wish he could go back in time,

And make things better, was it so late! Left all he was with,

The shadows of her memories in his heart and mind,

He awoke night after night, weeping on his bed,

There was no wood, no shadow that followed,

It was the fair price; he paid for the love long lost.
